Experience
I started working with kids when I was 16 and have been a teacher for 4 years. Currently a 5th grade teacher at Palm Lane Elementary in Phoenix, Arizona, I'm originally from the Chicago area. At Michigan State University, I received my bachelor's degree in Education and minored in English and ESL. I have an urban education specialization as well and am about halfway through my master's degree at the university. Reading is my favorite subject to tutor. It is my passion and I think any child can read well if they find a book that interests them. Other subjects I teach include math, writing, grammar, American history, geography, social studies, Spanish, and ISEE test prep.When working with a child, I enjoy bringing in my own experiences, such as my travels around the world. I have much to show them. I am also able to converse in Spanish and help with related material. Admittedly, I have high expectations for my students but am able to make the learning experience fun and knowledgeable. I love to help kids learn much more than they ever thought they could. Living in Glendale, I enjoy reading, scrap booking, soccer, football, and walking with my dog.
