I hold a bachelor's from Arizona State, where I majored in Elementary Ed. Now, I am a student at Northern Arizona University, working on a graduate degree in Continuing Elementary Education. For the last four years, I have taught grades four and five at a Title I school. I have experience teaching math and reading classes before the school day and after the last bell rings. It is during these sessions that I am able to spend individual time with the kids. Of all the subjects I teach, Reading is by far my favorite. If you asked my peers, they would describe my style of teaching as loving, engaging, and enthusiastic!My tutoring approach is that you must have many tools in your kit so that you can meet the needs of the student. Everyone learns differently, and an effective teacher realizes that. And while concepts are good, I find that applying a hands-on approach, with manipulatives, is best. When students can compare something in real life to what they hear in the classroom, and then share their own thoughts on the subject, it is the lynchpin of learning. Outside the classroom, I enjoy traveling and hanging out with friends and family. I am a photography buff, play the guitar, and am a voracious reader.
