I'm in Glendale, Arizona and graduated from New Mexico State University with a dual major in elementary education and special education. It's very important to me that children see that learning can be fun. My previous experience teaching students at levels ranging from K-5 has given me a deep pool from which to draw upon when helping pupils with reading, writing, and math skills at several levels. As a tutor, I strive to show students how subjects like Mathematics can be applied to everyday situations. By making them relevant, I can capture and hold my students' interest by showing them how the subjects they are studying are directly relevant to their life. This is a strategy that I have found successful in getting students to become self-motivated. I don't believe that every student has the same learning style. I do think that all of them have the innate ability to learn, and that teachers and tutors need to work to determine what their students need to be successful. I would be a good fit for students seeking a tutor in Elementary Math, Spanish, ESL/ELL, Phonics, Computer Science, Test Prep, Grammar and Mechanics, Languages, Agricultural Science, and more. When I have some time to myself, I like to go backpacking, hiking, camping, and horseback riding. I also like to bake and do crafts.
